Elsie’s final days were filled with love while she enjoyed stories and music of happy memories. Elsie will be dearly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Darcy Apps, two sons, Bradley and Clayton Apps (Roni Shapka) and granddaughter Zoelle Apps. Elsie was predeceased by parents John and Katherine Paike, and brothers Edward and Alec Paike.
Elsie lived most of her life in Edmonton and moved to Victoria BC upon retirement. Elsie will be remembered for her commitment to her children, her passion and involvement in politics, her active enjoyment of sports (especially curling, golf and skiing), her penchant for adventure and extensive travel, her wit and intellect, and her love of nature. Elsie never shied from involvement in worthwhile causes and endeavours, by which she touched and inspired many. Through her life, Elsie helped forge a path for all women in pursuit of athletic and academic success, career equality, and independence. In recent years, happiness for Elsie was a great book or movie with her beloved dog Scribbler snuggled at her side, and following the busy life of her granddaughter of whom she was immensely proud. We will miss her greatly.
