Frank was born in Hungary, but left shortly after the 1956 Revolution to explore the continent and parts unknown. He was the family’s Indiana Jones - searching for diamonds in Syria, ski racing in the French Alps, living above a cabaret in Montmartre. In the mid 1960’s, Frank came to Canada, eventually settling in Prince George where he had a successful career as sports car and heavy duty mechanic. Frank was well known for his ability to figure out how things worked and patch them together when they didn’t.
Frank married Anne in 1970 and together they shared a happy and loving marriage eventually relocating to Victoria in 1980. Frank developed a love of fishing and boating and enjoyed exploring the BC coastal waters and finding the best fishing spots. Sadly, after 47 years of marriage, Anne passed suddenly in 2018.
In 2020, Frank had the good fortune to meet Helen Stoddard, a retired teacher. They met at Costco in the grape section and as Frank explained how to select the best grapes, Helen quickly recognized his distinct accent. Helen, also in her 80’s, spoke Hungarian as her parents were both Hungarian. They soon fell in love and he spent his golden years with Helen in Brentwood Bay and adventuring together in Europe, Hawaii and Palm Springs.
Frank was a warm, kind man, with a strong sense of justice. Handsome, rugged, curious and willing to help those around him whenever he could. Frank lived a long, full life and touched all who knew him in a positive way. Left to grieve Frank include Helen, his brother Pista in Hungary, Craig who was like a son to him, his cousins Esther and Martha and the many friends he made everywhere he went.
Finally, the family is grateful for the wonderful care Frank received from Edgar Flores and his dedicated care team.
