Fred passed away on March 19, 2025, at age 94.
Born in London, England, to Amy and Edward Colthorpe he was the youngest of 4 brothers.
His experiences growing up in London during WWll had a lasting impact on him. After his father's passing, his mother moved to Victoria and remarried. A few years later Fred followed, immigrating to Canada in 1956.
Fred started on the front desk at the Empress Hotel and rose to assistant manager before spending 22 years as the Manager of Accommodations with the BC Ministry of Tourism. His travels took him to all corners of the province, and provided him with many stories. A long-time resident of Gordon Head, Fred enjoyed a long and active retirement.
His growing family was a constant source of pride and he thoroughly enjoyed time spent together.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Mary, children Paul (Shannon, her daughter Jaedan), Glenn (Trish) and Karen (Scott) together with grandchildren Holly (Connor), Simon, Colin and Emily. Memorial service to be held on April 17 2025 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial 4725 Falaise Dr. Victoria BC.
