Fred studied at Queens University and the University of Toronto, and was a teacher and principal, working in special education, as well as elementary, middle and high school. He loved teaching and was himself a lifelong learner.
A kind and gentle man of exceptional character, he will be forever loved, and profoundly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hilde Elizabeth, and his four daughters Karen, Susan (and her spouse Alix and children Sarah and Ryan), Ruth (and her spouse Mark and their two children Matthew and Jessica), and Jennifer.
