March 7, 1922 – October 10, 2020
It is with profound sadness that the family of George Albert Hoyte announce his passing on October 10, 2020 peacefully at the age of 98 at Berwick House, Victoria, BC.
George was born in Rocky Mountain House Alberta and raised in Rossland BC. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 and retired in 1967 as a Lieutenant Commander. He was accompanied during life by his loving partners Kay (married from 1946-1984) and Connie (married from 1986-2019), and raised three children with Kay. In later years he volunteered for 17 years as the treasurer at St Barnabas Church. His many hobbies included fishing, petit point, wood work and bee keeping.
George was predeceased by Kay and Connie as well as Cheryl, his cherished daughter who passed in 2012.
George is survived by sons Keith (Norma), and Brian, along with 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
His family would like to thank the excellent staff at Berwick House, Dr Chu, Lynda Cassels, Father Travis and the countless friends he picked up along the way.
A memorial service will be held at the St. Barnabas Church on Saturday October 17, 2020. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.

My best memory of Grandpa is going on walks and hikes with him as a child. We covered a lot of ground in Terrace bench areas, and around Piers Island.

We were all saddened by the passing of George. The children all have such fond memories of spending time with their grandfather.
The many memories of visiting on Piers Island will be lasting. George made many trips to Northern BC to visit his grandchildren but always seem to be deep into helping with renovations on each of our homes. You will be dearly missed by us all.
