My sister Debbie is a long time close friend of Dixie and it was through their friendship that I had the pleasure of meeting Dixie on a few occasions. It was easy to be in Dixie's presence. It was relaxing and peaceful. I loved gazing at her. She was so tall and beautiful and elegant, was like looking upon an angel. I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to meet her, brief as it was. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to Dixie's family and friends. 🌹

I met Dixie 40 years ago after I moved to Sooke. She was introduced to me through my neighbour who was her close friend. Over these years as we raised our families we grew closer and closer along with another friend. We all realize how lucky we have been to be able to learn and support each other in our everyday lives. Life brings ups and downs and through them we learned about God’s unconditional love. Learning and living with unconditional love isn’t easy but we got the opportunity to learn and practice it with each other when we could. That’s why I consider us the luckiest people on earth! Dixie called us her treasures.  She brought elegance and grace along with her many talents and gifts. I would get shivers when she sang for us with her beautiful voice. She had a love towards learning about humanity through her faith, phycology, and personality traits. I enjoyed learning very much from her perspectives. She described unconditional love in 2 words: respect and equality. The path to understanding has its troubles but the insights do bring rewards. She would say to me that she would rather learn from a pebble falling on her head than a boulder! She taught me how to listen, a trait most needed to walk the path. Dixie offered her talents and gifts freely to her church, friends, and family which helped and blessed many of us. I will be missing you Dixie until we meet again in the heavens where you are dancing with the angels.

I give these pictures to honour the presents of this lovely lady, Dixie and our treasured friendships.







I think of this lovely, elegant person as my Aunty. I remember “Aunty Dixy” as a very young child. It seems that she was always in my life, shining her light. She was tall, blond, beautiful, and gentle. Above all, I remember her kindness. My mom Janat Franko was (is, in the eternal sense) one of her best friends, and it felt like they were sisters, so close was the bond. My Mom was always lively and adventurous, while Aunty Dixie was refined and softer spoken, and as a quiet, cerebral child, I have to confess that I related to my quieter Aunt, and sometimes wished that she was my mom! Lol. Especially when Dixy’s  daughter Susan was also the fun loving, cool girl... did they swap us at birth, I would jokingly wonder?!... But in all seriousness, I knew that this special lady with her buckets of unconditional love was put in our lives for a reason. It was she who invited me to church at the little Free Methodist Church which used to be on Cook St. by North Park. That was where I really learned unconditional love, and my Aunty Dixy is responsible! Thank you for all of your Love, Aunty... you will always have a special place in our family’s heart. ❤️ 

Auntie Dixie was a special lady!  I have the fondest memories from my childhood going to church and family gathering ,I will never forget .  Especially the party us kids had at our house in sooke, while Auntie Dixie and my Mom( Janat franko) were out probably at church. Boy did we get in trouble.   Auntie Dixie  will never be forgotten  she'll always be in my heart ❤

Dixie was special friend for 30yrs that I have known her.  She was a tremendous help when I was going through a difficult time.  I will surely miss her.  She loved her family so much.  That was the kind of person she was.
