
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Harvey Maurice Atkinson. Harvey was born January 7, 1927 in Camrose, Alberta and passed away peacefully on December 19, 2015 in Victoria, British Columbia with his loving wife of 67 years by his side. Predeceased by brothers Marvin, Gerald and Leo, Harvey is survived by his wife Eva (nee Lewis), daughters Arlene (Ken), Lynn, and Karen (Bob) and son Brian (Elaine), as well as 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Harvey was a proud veteran who loved spending time with friends and family, and volunteering in his community. He was an active Life Member of the Lions, serving as President of the Morinville Lions Club and as District Governor. In recognition of his dedicated service he has was inducted into the 37B District Hall of Fame. In 2002 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of his exemplary and outstanding contributions to his community. Harvey had a lifelong love of music and dancing, and took every opportunity to play the harmonica earning him the nickname "Music Man". Famously opinionated, he was loved by all who met him for his warmth, charm and wit, his silly jokes, and his love of burnt toast.
