Woody came to Canada in his late 20’s and settled on Centre Island, Toronto, Ontario. This is where he met the love of his life ~ Jutta. He had already established his musician career as a local performer, and later with the airforce. He then branched out on his own entertaining in various clubs for many years. He came to Victoria in the 60’s and began his long career of 30 years at Butchart Gardens. Woody was a musician extraordinaire, entertaining with many shows and with his dixieland band “Butchart Buskers”. He brought joy and laughter to all with his happy music and “aussie” jokes.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Jutta (of 67 years); sons Les (Jude) and Dennett (Deborah and Olivia), and by many of his longtime friends.
May his music live on in our hearts.
