

Ida, much loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 21st at the age of 92. Ida was bom in Mels, Switzerland in 1925 and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1938, settling in the Bulkley Valley. Alongside her future husband John, she worked tirelessly in Northern British Columbia, raising 4 children in her capacity as a homemaker. In 1962, the family relocated to Victoria, where Ida found time to be active with the Catholic Women's League, Girl Guides of Canada, the Victoria Swiss Society and her much cherished hobby, flower arranging. Ida was predeceased by her 3rd child Hedi in a tragic skiing accident in 1987, and by her husband John in 2003. She is survived by her 2nd husband Vince Sullivan and by her sons Walter, Peter (Yalile) and daughter Karen (Roy), along with grandchildren Tania (Dave), David (Sandy), Brett (Christina), Tiersa (Leon), John and Jamie, as well as 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held for Ida at 10 AM on Thursday, December 28th at First Memorial (4725 Falaise Drive in Royal Oak) followed by a reception in her honour at the same location.
