Random memories of my Aunt Ina

I remember the entire Alexander clan gathering at Uncle John's and Aunt Ina's house on Central Avenue on Christmas Eve. Ina had Christmas cookies and a personalized gift for each one of us.

I remember sunbathing on the dock of Uncle John's and Aunt Ina's cabin at Shawnigan Lake with Ina, my mother and sisters.

I remember going to the Victoria Golf Club with Aunt Ina and having shrimp cocktail. I think that was the only thing she ever ate there, as often as she went. She was quite a golfer.

I remember seeing Aunt Ina in her 70s walking down the street and marvelling at her upright posture and thinking perhaps it wasn't she but someone much younger.

I remember Aunt Ina's 1960s Valiant in mint condition 20 years later. I think she gave it to my youngest sister to drive.

I remember having tea and cookies with Aunt Ina at the house on Valdez Place when Uncle John was ill.

I remember running into Aunt Ina and her sister Frieda at White Spot. I think they used to go there frequently for lunch.

Now Ina is gone. It is the end of an era.
