Jerry was born in Vancouver BC and spent time working on the family farm before joining the navy. Not wanting to be away from his family, he left the Navy after 5 years and eventually became a postie at Canada Post. Jerry made many lifelong friends there and had the privilege of working with his son Doug. Summers were spent out at Sooke and later at the cabin at Lake Cowichan. Many great memories were made at both places. Jerry was an avid hunter and a member of the Cowichan Bears and went on many memorable hunting trips with his friends and his sons. Both of Jerry’s sons played soccer with the Gorge Soccer Association and he was very involved with the organization while his sons played. Jerry and June also made many lifelong friends from those days at Hampton Park. After Jerry retired volunteered at the Goldstream Hatchery and many of the Cowichan Bears joined him. They all enjoyed going back to Jerry’s for a beer after. It was 5 0’clock somewhere. Jerry enjoyed his retirement until he was diagnosed with PSP and gradually began to decline. He always looked forward to the video calls from his daughter Karen who lives in Bowser and was always ready with a “Hi Dinky” when she called. June looked after him at home as long as she could but when he could no longer walk he was transferred to a care home. Jerry passed away peacefully a few months later with his family by his side. He will be missed by his many friends and family. Always in our hearts
Jerry is predeceased by his Son Darren Richard Witty and survived by His wife June Witty, Son Doug Witty, Daughter Karen Witty, grandsons Justin Gamble (Lyndsey) and Ryan Gamble, Great grandsons Liam, Beau and Reggie Gamble
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
