She is survived by her siblings, Peter and Madeleine Bicknell, her sister-in-law, Sue Bicknell, many nieces and nephews as well as grandchildren through marriage. Jane’s sister Hilary, as well as her brothers Basil and Christopher, predeceased her.
Born in England, Jane remained lifelong friends with four girls that she met at age ten. Jane became a skilled and proud member of the St. Bartholomew League of Nurses. One of her friends commented that the series “Call The Midwife” reminded her of Jane, cycling around the city delivering babies. Jane particularly enjoyed gardening and sailing. She and her beloved husband of 20 years, Don Mason, who predeceased her, spent many happy days aboard their sailboat with extended family alongside. Jane is also predeceased by her partner, David Fisher, with whom she spent her later years.
How lucky was Jane to have so enjoyed her career and to have lived a life filled with love, loyalty and purpose? Jane’s energy and attention to detail, combined with her love of the people who comprised both her biological and extended family, inspired those around her to truly enjoy life as well. The memories created together will forever be cherished.
