
A loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend, Jean-Pierre was predeceased by his beloved son Bernard, and sisters Claire-Lise and Jacqueline Mentha. He is survived by Anne, his wife of 70 years, daughter Caroline (David Hill) and granddaughters Elisabeth and Alexandra. He also leaves his brother Jacques Mentha and nieces Loraine Lagarde and Clermonde Mentha in Geneva.
Jean-Pierre and Anne met on the slopes of the Matterhorn and in 1952 they married in Oakville, Ontario. Work and education took them to Montreal, Vancouver, Dawson Creek and Geneva where Carol was born in 1961. They settled in Victoria in 1963 where Bernard was born in 1964.
Jean-Pierre enjoyed a rewarding and interesting career teaching French at the University of Victoria. He loved family and celebrations, debate and discusssion, literature and travel, all accompanied by good food, wine and scotch. His interests and talents were drawing and writing and, when younger, his activities included karate, tennis and swimming. He lived a full and long life and will be very much missed.
