Just a few thoughts for Maureen (since you are the only one of the family I know)......we lost touch over the years.
I'm so sorry for your loss......the Jerry I knew was so good and kind.

There are few people who you meet in life that make such an impact that you carry them with you, even if you don’t see them or speak to them often, and that is how I would describe you. 

As I remember our many outings & conversations particularly, over the summer of 1996 when I stayed with you & Maureen.  I find myself smiling & chuckling at the times we had. 

We would often go out in your beautiful truck & it frequently involved ‘Nachos & beer!’ 

I always smile when I think about the many open houses you took me to for a nose around. I was oblivious that you were not actually looking to buy! Everyone use to say that people doing the viewing must have thought you were my ‘sugar daddy!’ You were certainly like a Dad to me, always looking out for me, a listening ear and supportive friend. I will always remember your kindness & nothing was ever too much trouble. You both provided me with a home for the summer & made me feel like part of the family. 

Your sense of fun was infectious. One day we went to a small town near the ferry & I misread the wording on a picture of Winnie the Pooh in a shop window. I thought that is said ‘Pooh for Peace’ that you found hilarious. The next day you came home from work & had made me a plaque engraved with a picture of Pooh Bear & the words ‘Pooh for Peace.’ You also made me a small Winnie the Pooh that I carry around with me.  

One of the photos I have shared is from my wedding day where you swapped shoes with another guest, rolled up your trousers & danced. 😊It meant the world to me having you, Maureen, Aaron & Ruth there to share the special day as you are all like family to me. 

I am grateful I got to see you in 2017 for Thanks Giving & we had the opportunity to reconnect & stroll around the lake. I had hoped to see you again in the summer & introduce you to my girls, but alas this wasn’t meant to be!  

You will always be very special to me and an important part of my life.

It's a sad, sad day with the passing of our very good friend Jerry.  Jerry was a very important part of our dockyard  life and our social life with the birthday group.  Jerry and the lovely Maureen will know who we are.  Our birthday group will carry on Jerry, but we will all miss you greatly..  So sad.

Jerry had tickets for a Just For Laughs comedy tour in Victoria, when I was in school. I don't remember the exact details, but it started my love for stage comedy. 
Hello taught me how to make fries in the oven. And he supported me, until Lori kicked me out for my 17th birthday.

Never a kinder or generous man could I find

When we first came over to Canada, Jerry made us most welcome in his genuine easy going manner, which put us anxious young travelers at ease. His hospitality knew no bounds as he treated us like royalty. Over the years we've been made to feel like family, and so it's with a sad heavy heart that we have to bid farewell to our Canadian Dad.  He was a golden credit to himself, his family, his friends, and all Canadians.
Goodbye Jerry, may your soul find the peace it deserves, you'll be sorely missed.

Wrapping you and your family in a  warm healing hug Maureen.  Our memories of Jerry go back many years and all start and end with his positive outlook and willingness to help in any situation. If I close my eyes I see his cheeky smile and hear his chuckle… Jerry had a pragmatic way of seeing the best in any situation and he will be dearly missed.

So sad to hear of Jerry's passing.   Living next door to the Duncan family was an enjoyable memory.  Trisha still talks of being to able to drive 🚗 his restored vehicle when she graduated.   Always had a neighbourly greeting and a beer in hand while mowing his lawn.  Condolences 🙏 to Maureen 💗 and family.

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we remember Uncle Jerry. His quick wit always brought laughter and joy to every gathering, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His great advice was a beacon of wisdom, guiding us through life's challenges and teaching us the importance of kindness and understanding.
Uncle Jerry's adventurous spirit knew no bounds. No matter what was suggested, he always seemed up for it. He inspired us all to embrace life with enthusiasm and curiosity. 
What truly set Uncle Jerry apart was his disarming charm. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel at ease, welcomed, and valued. His presence was a comforting assurance that everything would be alright. He could light up a room with his smile and make friends effortlessly.
One particular memory that stands out was when he and Auntie Maureen were visiting us in Kelowna. We had a very well-behaved Golden Retriever named Orla. She had never experienced “people food” and had thus, never developed the understanding of begging for it. However, we did notice that Orla did take a strong liking to Uncle Jerry one evening and later discovered that he had been feeding her some popcorn on the sly. We couldn’t be angry with him for such an innocent act, however, for the rest of Orla’s life she was instantly interested as soon as she caught the scent of fresh popcorn. I am sure she wished that Uncle Jerry had visited more often. 
As Sage and I remember Uncle Jerry, we celebrate a life well-lived, a spirit that touched us, and a legacy that will forever remain in our hearts. His memory will continue to inspire us to live with wit, wisdom, adventure, and charm, just as he did. Rest in peace, Uncle Jerry. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
