A true daughter of London, she grew up during the hardships of World War II. Those formative years shaped the woman she became: incredibly strong, fiercely independent, and capable of weathering any storm. Following the war, she bravely immigrated to Canada on her own to start a new life. It was here that she met the love of her life, Peder.
Together, they were a formidable team. In 1967, they founded Ocean Marker, building it into a successful line marking and tennis court company. Mum was the heart and backbone of both the family and the business, working alongside Peder to create a lasting legacy while raising their children. She maintained that trademark independence and sharp mind right until her passing.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Peder, and their infant daughter, Charlotte. We take immense comfort in knowing they are reunited at last.
Mum’s greatest joy was found in her family. She is survived by her six children - daughter Jennifer, and sons, Ian, Timothy, Earl, Neal and Graham - along with their spouses and her many grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply. She was the matriarch in every sense of the word, a constant source of strength and guidance whose love and lessons will remain her most enduring legacy.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Janelle, Robert, and especially Melissa from Senior Helpers Victoria. The level of care and compassion they showed Mum over these past few months allowed her to live out her final days with grace and independence.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on June 6, 2026 at 10am at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Saanich, BC. In place of flowers, donations may be made to Community Living Victoria (c/o Orillia Home), the supported living residence where Timothy lives.
