Born in Linz, Austria, Johann travelled to Canada to seek adventure and settled in Montreal. He married Ute Karin Heumann and raised three children, Joanne, Michael and Brian. He built a thriving and respected career in refrigeration and was active in rowing, skiing and sailing, spending time at the family cottage in Fitch Bay, Quebec. He retired to a farm in Hatley where he built his dream home, had horses and continued to be active in riding, skiing and tennis. He and his wife travelled the world and after the tragic passing of their daughter Joanne, they completed the Camino de Santiago in her memory. Shortly after moving to Vancouver Island, they continued their adventures exploring the waters of Georgia Strait in their sailboat.
Friend, Husband, Father, Onkel, Opa and Ur-Opa, Johann was beloved by family and friends. His passing will be mourned but his life will not be forgotten.
The family will be having a quiet private memorial reception on the 25th of February where we will be sharing memories and well wishes. Please, no flowers, but share your memories of Johann using the link below.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would also be appreciated.
