His untimely death is a tragic loss to his family and friends, but we are consoled by the fact that he died doing something he loved. Josh was predeceased by his Grandparents Peter and Izzy Lovas, Jack Plant, and Barbara Garside.
He is survived by his loving parents Sandi Lovas (Syl Thompson) and Dwayne Lovas (Sherry Gales), and the love of his life, Sarah Attridge.
He will be sadly missed by his brothers of heart Matty Hoffe and Shawn Bremner, fairy godmothers Petra and Lydia Wingate, extended family members, and his beloved and constant companion, Izzy the Bulldog.
Josh was a beautiful soul who touched many lives. A role model for living life to the fullest, he was, first and foremost, an amazing and dedicated son. Raised in a home so loving that it "felt like a hug," Josh was devoted to his family. He treasured his mom, Sandi, beyond measure, just as Josh was the light of his mom’s life. Josh was deeply connected to his step-dad Syl, and he cherished the time he spent with his birth father, Dwayne and step-mother, Sherry, with whom he lived during his high school years and who entertained him royally in Mexico.
The love Josh received from his parents poured out from him and overflowed onto everyone he knew. His positive spirit and genuine interest in others were rewarded with loving relationships that meant the world to him. He was a good and true friend with an outgoing personality, a heart of gold, and a wide circle of long-time and devoted friends. Best of all, he always had their backs. Josh also forged strong bonds with animals. He was a "dog whisperer" whose calming presence could soothe the most anxious canine. He loved to spoil his beloved dog, Izzy, who was always by his side. His love for children was apparent everywhere he went. If there was a little one in the room, like a magnet, they quickly found Josh, and together they were soon playing trucks or dolls, whatever the moment called for.
Josh approached life with an open heart and he charmed everyone in his path. It was impossible not to take a liking to him. He had a big smile with dimples on each cheek, and the ability to talk to anyone and make them feel important, always looking them in the eye, and listening intently with genuine interest. Supportive, kind, and caring, Josh was always ready to lend a hand or offer a shoulder to cry on. He saw the best in people and spread joy wherever he went. A hurricane of fun, Josh could light up the room, make you laugh with his cheeky banter, and take an ordinary night and make it memorable.
A trustworthy and tireless worker, Josh was always active and engaged, challenging himself to try new things, and facing obstacles with positivity and determination. In 1999, he completed training in Marine Emergency Duties (basic safety, survival craft, and marine firefighting) through the Justice Institute of BC, and in 2010, he traveled to Southern Arkansas University to complete Paramedic courses and Certificates of Proficiency in Fire and Emergency Response. Josh also knew how to play, especially when it came to athletics. At the age of six, Josh found his passion for sports. During his school years he played baseball, basketball, and volleyball, and competed in numerous track and field events. In his adult years, he continued to be an avid baseball player and valued teammate in all of the leagues he joined. He loved golfing and fishing with his Grandpa Peter, and he embraced and excelled in Bull riding, thanks to his friend Josh Birks.
Josh made a lasting impact on the many lives he touched and our memories of him will never fade. He leaves a legacy of love and dedication to family and friends.
LOVE NEVER ENDS and Josh will be loved forever.
A Celebration of Life will be planned as soon as we are able. Please watch Joshua's Facebook Memorial page for details. 'In memory of Joshua John Lovas'
