June Lorraine Yates

June worked in her younger years in a variety of administrative jobs and with CN Telegraphs in Winnipeg. Married life brought children and her lifelong passion for volunteering began as she raised her family. With a family relocation to Victoria BC, June volunteered for decades with schools, education programs, art programs, the swim program for handicapped children, the Senior's Support Home at St Anthony's, the Metchosin Community House Seniors Program, and her great volunteer love – 13 years at Victoria General Hospital in the Emergency and Pediatric Wards. In 2018, June was recognized by The District of Metchosin as their Pioneer of the Year.

June is survived by sons Dave (Deborah) and Ian, grandsons David (Alison) and James, step-granddaughter Candace (Michael), dearly loved cousins Sherrie (Roy) and Audrey, and all her wonderful Manitoba family.

Many thanks to the medical practitioners and staff at the The Priory in Victoria BC for the caring and friendship they provided in her final years.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name.
