Justine was a woman of immense warmth, grace, and unwavering love, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Justine's legacy is one of selflessness, as she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting all through both joyous and challenging times.
Mom's journey commenced in Manitoba, surrounded by numerous relatives. She attended Brooke School in Rivers, excelling in basketball and language arts, though confessing to a struggle with math—a sentiment echoed by her report cards. Relocating to Winnipeg in the mid-50s, she embraced various jobs, including a stint at Air Canada, granting her the opportunity to explore different corners of the globe. Love found her aboard a ship en route from New York City to England, culminating in marriage in Nottingham in the mid-60s and the adoption of two children. The family eventually settled in Saskatoon, where Mom, a dedicated homemaker, proved to be an exceptional mother, a cherished friend, and a committed volunteer for numerous organizations.
Volunteering for UNICEF, she led funding drives and embarked on a transformative journey to Africa, profoundly impacting her. Following a divorce, she took a job at the Western Development Museum. She met her second husband during a card game (though she never actually played cards) and their loving journey together led them to Victoria in the early '90s. Over the next 30+ years, Justine continued to build deep connections within her community, including Marsett Place, UNICEF, the Meditation group, Unity, and the PEO sisterhood.
Whether it was tending to her garden, pursuing supporting endeavors, having a salmon sandwich lunch or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, Justine found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband James Baillie (2008)
She is survived by her children Paul(Hollis) and Michele, her grandchildren Aidan, Liam, Malia(Liam), Keoni, Nainoa, Taj and great granddaughter Charlotte.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services & Garden of Memories, 4725 Falaise Drive Victoria on Dec 11th at 2:00pm.
