He is predeceased by his beloved wife Margot, former wife Nora and his grandson Adam.
Ken is survived by his daughter Susan Sherman, his sons Roger (Odile), Alan (Louisa), Philip (Charity), by his grandchildren Michael (Justine), Matthew, Scott, Alex, Heather Barnett (Jonathon) and numerous great-grandchildren. Ken is survived by sister Jean Taylor, his nieces Jackie Harding (John) and Anita Freeman (Russ) in England.
Ken began his career serving an apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering at the English Electric Company and emigrated to Canada in 1957 with his first wife and two small boys. He worked in many capacities with the Allis Chalmers Corp in Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax. Ken became an independent marketing consultant with Urwick Currie in Montreal in 1964 and was invited to join the Genstar Corporation in the capacity as Vice-President Acquisitions and Mergers in 1968 . In 1973, he transferred to Edmonton to Inland Cement (a division of Genstar) to solve design problems with a proposed cement plant. Following a fact finding tour of European plants, he conceived and designed the successful plant that operates there to this day. When built, it was considered the most efficient cement plant in North America and Ken considered this to be the crowning engineering achievement of his career.
In 1978 he met Margot White and moved to Victoria. He joined RBC Dominion Securities as an Investment Advisor and retired after 20 successful years at age 67. Following retirement, he moved completely outside his comfort zone, and learned how to drive a truck and pull a fifth-wheel travel trailer. He and Margot toured full-time for the next 7 years across Canada, the USA, all of Mexico and Alaska, a 250,000Km odyssey. Ken and Margot spent time wintering in their motorhome in Mesa, AZ and summering in Kelowna, resting only a short time each spring and fall at home in Victoria. Exploring the wonders of the North American continent for 14 years provided a very happy and worthwhile active retirement life.
At age 83, he retired from RVing and for next 8 years served as the strata President and Treasurer. After Margot passed, he moved into the Berwick Retirement Community at Royal Oak where lived until his passing, Ken was aged 92 years.
He has gone to join his beloved Margot at the Great RV Resort in the Sky.
