Condolences Kathy and Shel,

A fine man left your family far too soon! Kjeld was a fantastic teacher and great role model for our two children. Not only in the classroom, or on the field, but as young adults in real life.

Many a dinner together.  Some would say Kjeld was adult sitting.....
One thing about Kjeld, if there was a lot of yelling or raised voices, he had this way to calm things down and not engage in the BS.  I cannot remember a time he had to yell, always the voice of reason somehow.
Will miss our dinners.

The VISL Board always had a lot of fun at the premiere events of the year - the Cup Finals. Be at RAP or Starlight, Kjeld was there for the majority of them as a volunteer the past 30 years.
Again, many laughs, some challenges, but great quality time.

It is with great sadness that Jacqueline and I heard of Kjeld's passing.
I feel so fortunate that I was able to share a round of golf with him just before Christmas, which allowed us to catch up on old times and our families.
I have and always will feel extremely privileged that he asked me if I would coach Shel when he first started playing soccer in juveniles.
Coaching Kjeld's only son did not come without the challenge of not letting his confidence in me down.
But from the start he was always calm, ready to give advice and support which provided me with strength and confidence that lasted 30 years of coaching juvenile soccer.
I think of him daily since I have heard the news .

I guess you could say we kind of grew up together…

Our family is deeply sad to know Kjeld is no longer with us. We will miss seeing him and spending family time with him like we have for many summers now. We are lucky to have met him, to have talked to him and to have shared with him. We cherish the memories we made and we know his spirit lives in our hearts.  A big hug for Kathy and his family.

I am devastated by Kjeld's passing.  My thoughts are with Kathy, Shel, Paola and Isabella.  Kjeld and I met 30 years ago when we team taught at Macaulay School.  We worked together until we retired from Shoreline Middle School 15 enjoyable years later.  I started out with a colleague and ended up with a kind-supportive-thoughtful-lifetime friend.  Kjeld gave me a nickname, The Skipper.  I told him that he had the choice of what I would call him, Gilligan or The Professor.  The Professor and I remained great friends after we retired, kept doing fun things together and often reminisced about the past.  Kjeld was a terrific guy and I am a better person for having known him.  I will miss The Professor so much.

I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear of Kjeld's passing.  He was such a nice, genuine person all the way from Vic High Days to last seeing you both at Sher's brother's memorial.   My heart goes out to you and your son, and all family.  We've lost a very caring man.

The first times Keith & I met Kjeld, on separate occasions, we found ourselves a wee bit intimidated. That quiet demeanour & steely stare! It didn’t take long though until we knew the real Kjeld who became a dear close friend.
We have so many wonderful memories. One of our favourites would be the years of playing doubles tennis where the couples would split up & play for money!  Come Spring we would use our ‘pot’ and splurge on a weekend away to kick off our golf season. Kjeld was always ready with his Birdie Juice & a ‘Skal!’
Kjeld, you were the consummate gentleman and a loyal supportive friend who is going to be missed beyond words.

Kjeld  was a great mentor to myself and many other young wrestling referees.  He was patient and passionate about see us succeeding and climbing up the Provincial. National and International ladders.  He mad referee clinics fun at the National level.  ‘94 Commonwealth Games was one of the high points of my officiating career.  Thank Kjeld and Thank You to Kathy and Shel for sharing him with us all.  My deepest condolences and sympathys to his family and the all sports that had the opportunity to work with him .

I taught school with Kjeld and I once substituted for him when he had a leg injury.  A finer man I have never met. Truthful and honest and down to earth, he was a credit to his profession and to his family. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Very sorry to hear of Kjeld’s sudden illness and passing. He was my teacher for only a year (1991-92), but he left a real impression. I was just telling another student, I can still close my eyes and remember sitting in his classroom (front and centre - I was a keener!) and Mr B shouting encouragement at us as we ran laps. Best of all? Mr B was the cool teacher who took 70 or 80 twelve and thirteen year olds camping on Denman Island! We pitched our own tents, toasted marshmallows, shucked oysters… I remember Julia, Sybil, and I pitched our tent near the fire pit in a little depression near the family’s cabin, and woke up quite flooded. Lesson learned! Rest easy, Mr B. Thanks for being part of my childhood:)

It is with deepest love, respect and sympathy i write this.  Kjeld was a mentor to me and a great guide in my life. Quietly and without fan fare he encouraged me in my chosen path and in my life.  Any time i called, he would answer. He never let me waver when i was questioning my difficult life choices in coaching.  He always got my  attention back forward and my hands on the steering wheel again. Making believe i was on the right track.  He was a gift to this world and his legacy and achievements will live on through the words of those he so kindly and selflessly mentored and affected.  He is loved and his loss is significant. To the Brodsgaard Clan:  I am gutted by the news of Kjeld’s passing. He was a valued colleague and friend. I will remember fondly his gentle manner, focus on students, skill and patience as a coach, acceptance of others and his personal warmth. He was a wonderful organizer and a master delegator.  He will be missed by his wide and varied social and sports circles. I am away in Mexico so will miss the celebration of life but rest assured, I will be thinking of Kjeld and his family on the 17th.   My heartfelt condolences on your loss.

So saddened to hear of this news.   Kathy, Shel, Paulo and Isabella, please accept my family's sincerest condolences.    We have some fond memories of Kjeld as Dina was a co worker at Shoreline with him and I was welcomed into the Denman Island home for Keeper clinics. So sorry for your loss. Kjeld was such a genuinely good person.. I was a member of the national wrestling team many years ago and  I think I can speak for the literal thousands of people that knew  Kjeld in the wrestling world when I say everyone that knew him is saddened to hear of your loss. What a shocking piece of news to wake up to this morning.

A wonderful man taken from us all too quickly. 

Obviously, being somewhat “removed” up here in Kamloops, I didn’t know that he was sick, Hence my startled response when I read of his passing.
 
I had the utmost respect for Kjeld and he reciprocated whenever we were together or chatting on the phone. He gave me a great deal of credibility for my years with the association. We’d often have some great conversations about BC Soccer, etc., when time permitted.

We never worked together directly, but our paths crossed on many occasions. I loved his demeanor, his charisma, and his passion for our chosen sport. I can't imagine he would have ever lost his temper, nor said a bad word about anyone. That's a big reason why I am saddened that I will not be able to be in his company anymore.

Condolences to his family. They, and organized soccer, will not be the same without him.

Mr. Brodsgaard was one of my all time favourite teachers. He was passionate, funny, fair and most of all captivating. 
He and his sidekick Mr. Paul made Shoreline Middle School a highlight of childhood! 
My favourite quote of his was: 2nd place is just 1st place in a long line of losers. 
Mr. Brodsgaard made a mark on this world! My condolences to his family and friends.

I am a better person because I was able to have been around Kjeld.  In many situations, I said to myself, what would Kjeld do? I am so grateful that I was his friend, and really his pupil.  Thank you Kjeld.

I am saddened at the News of Kjeld’s untimely passing.
We refereed many tournaments together over the years, he was a great mentor to so many athletes, referees and of course Soccer.

My deepest condolences. When i was a young wrestler, Kjeld Went out of his way to make sure that I was O.K. At large tournaments that were completely out of my league, he always went out of his way to make sure that I was doing alright. While our interactions were few, I will always remember Kjeld fondly.

A true gentleman and proud supporter of local soccer. Such a huge loss for the family and community. Sending strength to the family at this time.

Kjeld Brodsgaard served our soccer community so well and it was so appreciated by many.  Our specific interactions of late were when he represented our Surrey United Premier Women at Nationals events and he resonated on the players as professional, supportive and genuine.  My personal interactions were filled with positive memories of simply a fantastic man. On behalf of our team, we want to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Kjeld.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss.  Kjeld was a remarkable human being that was taken far too early.

I first met Kjeld through Kathy and The Force soccer team she co-founded at Gorge.  But I got to know Kjeld better as the teacher of each of my children at Shoreline Middle School.  He was a respected and loved teacher by both his students and their parents.  Kjeld was a very patient and caring individual that had a positive influence on my children, and for that I am grateful.  I would often run into him on one of his walks with Barney around the neighbourhood, and he would ask how my kids were getting on in life.

Goodbye Kjeld.  May you rest in peace.

My name is Ed Kennedy & I had the good fortune to serve on BC Soccer's Board of Directors with  Kjeld for a number of years. Kjeld was a hard working member of the Board & a first class gentleman. Rest in peace my friend.

My heart aches to have to write this now at this time. Keld was such a gentle and calming man. He was a tremendous teammate on the Gorge Masters, as I was always the youngest member of those teams he was always so encouraging and always quick with a joke or funny line when things weren’t going too good( those  moments were few and far between tho). I always admired his ability to never seem to get to excited or heated in a particular moment
I will miss his cool demeanour and know that I am a better man for knowing him. This world lost a gem.

I had the privilege of teaching with Kjeld and getting to know Kathy and Shel, so I was shocked to hear of his recent passing.  My memories of Kjeld will remain strong as he was always a wonderful, positive and inspirational colleague - I know he will be deeply missed by his family.

I am debates to hear of Kjeld’s passing. What a gentle kind and thoughtful generous man he was. He welcomed me and my family to Canada and BC Soccer with open arms in 2011 when we moved there. As part of our first ever trip around BC he so kindly allowed us to stay in the home at Denmans Island and we loved it. All in return for a signed Danish national team football shirt and a crate of Carlsberg! He was always interested in how our family was and settling into BC. He was also so helpful to me in my role as ED of BC Soccer offering great wisdom and guidance in navigating the challenging landscape of football in the province. He will be so missed and I will always remember him. Rest in peace Kjeld.

Our journey came full circle at the Provincial Championships in Surrey when I was fortunate enough to have this photo taken at the awards ceremony together with the President of BC Soccer.

I’m so sorry to hear this news and I send my sincerest sympathies to the Brodsgaard’s and Kjeld’s closest friends. 

I was lucky enough to have many great interactions with Kjeld through our BC Soccer days and will always treasure our Island Soccer talks as fellow footballing romantics.

It was with deepest sadness when I heard of Kjeld passing. Kjeld mentored me as a young part time goalie at Gorge. I took those teachings and use his style of goaltending technique to this day when I coach. He always took the time to stop and talk, ask how you were doing, mean it and listen carefully, He loved telling a good story and share a laugh or many. My heart and prayers to all the family. So very sad to hear!  I will always remember this gentle man on the side lines of Gorge games, chatting with David  and myself! Always remembered but never forgotten♥️

I am grateful for the times we have had together over the years, your kindness, your generous heart, your gift to know when to dive in or step away to give the girls time together, to share your insight, listen with intent and become not only a coach but to be our coach as we transition into retirement… take the challenges, welcome us into your home or TLRH with not one but two legs … you have created so many great memories, and for that I thank you.

Deepest condolences to Kjeld family  and many friends. Myself and Kjeld were friends when either of us was a provincial soccer rep for national tournament or members of the CSA Presidents Forum. Myself and Kjeld had a long standing joke that we were the bookends for the CSA. Kjeld was the west and I was the east. Remembering Kjeld always bring a smile to me. Kjeld was quite intelligent ; and a great friend.

I first met Kjeld as an opponent on the football pitch when I was still a teen and he played in goal for the London Boxing Club. Much later we enjoyed many good times in the clubhouse as well as at the Red House on Denman Island as teammates on the Gorge Classics. The bond that was created is something I will always cherish. 

I feel extremely privileged to have known you and to have called you my friend, Kjeld.....

I so appreciated Kjeld as a person and leader. We had many wonderful conversations about the beautiful game (soccer) and debated what was good for the sport going forward. Shel remains an inspiration to me as he continues his father's amazing legacy. Thank you for sharing him with the world. From my family to all of you, we share our heartfelt condolences.

Kjeld was not only a true friend but an inspiration to us all that would strive to be a better person.
Kjeld joined our youth team as coach joining Howie Anderson way back when. As a youth player we strived under their coaching skills that has lasted throughout our lifetime. I fondly remember heading to Royal Athletic to watch him play during those early years and beyond.. These fond memories have been with me all my life.
It was a pleasure to also be a colleague in the soccer community.
