She fought cancer with every ounce of strength she had. It was a long, hard road for her and for everyone who loved her. Through it all, she never stopped showing love with her grace and dignity, along with a touch of her dark humour that helped us carry on. She was grateful to have Wes and all of her family around her, including Julia, who came from Switzerland to be by her side.
Born on May 12, 1943, in Victoria, British Columbia, to John G. and Phylis M. Allison, Linda lived a full life built on love, family, and quiet strength. Before becoming a full-time homemaker, she worked as a registered nurse—a role that reflected her care for others.
She will be missed most by her husband Wes, her partner in life since their marriage in October of 1966—nearly 59 years of love; her daughters Christine Brinton and Julia Hadorn (Martin); and her son James Cheston (Lisa). She was a proud grandmother to Zach and Allie Brinton, Lucas and Jonas Hadorn, Coco and Sabela Cheston, and Lena Glauser. Her grandchildren loved her so much—she was always cheering them on and made each of them feel special. Now that she’s gone, they will miss her in every hug, every laugh and every memory they carry forward.
Linda was happy when her family was gathered around her table or baking with her grandchildren. Those meals brought us together and created memories that will live on. “Nana’s House” was a place where we all knew our seat at the dining room table every Sunday and especially Zach, Allie and Chris Brinton will miss those special meals.
Linda and Wes also shared a deep love for travelling, a passion that took them to many exotic parts of the world. Their adventures together filled their lives with joy and discovery and their home is a reflection of those journeys—adorned with art, treasures and collections that continue to tell the story of their life together.
We take comfort in believing she’s now resting peacefully, free from pain.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to her family doctor, Dr. Mason and the palliative care team for their compassionate support during Linda Cheston's final days.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held in April 2026. In lieu of flowers a donation in Linda’s name may be made to the BC Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
