With a “Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!” and final toe tap, Lois has swam and swam right over the dam. Left behind are her husband Don, daughters Carolyn, Deborah and Susan, son-in-laws Peter (FSIL), Bill and Lorne. Missing their Nana Banana are Aaron (Emmy), Spencer, Devon, Allie and Lois’s great granddaughters Hazel and Finley. To carry on the Dadd’s sense of humour and keep memories of her much loved parents Cyril and Florence, sister Margaret and treasured brother Jack (Brucella), who was lost in Italy during WW2, is her younger brother (and fellow Pea in a Pod) Robert (Florence).
Like her grandfather (James Mowat), Lois was known for never uttering a harsh word. Well, almost never. Lois truly listened. It was a spontaneous tribute to everyone she met. As young girl living in Toronto during the depression she remembered her mother inviting complete strangers, who had knocked at the door looking to work for food, in to share a meal. The door was always open at the house on Doncaster. People would come to see Don but it was Lois that listened to their troubles. In the cupboard, beside the instant coffee, was chart of who took what in their coffee.
Lois loved all God’s creatures but had a soft spot for crows and corgis. The “Three Little Princesses” were all well schooled in the art of spider removal. One needs a glass, a stiff piece of paper and not be so silly. In lieu of flowers, Lois would love it if you would feed the birds, listen to the lonely and never squish a spider. She would want thank Dr. Buie, Della and the exceptional staff at Kiwanis for their care and kindness to both herself and our family.
