Lynn grew up on the family farm just outside of Winnipeg in Sanford, Manitoba. Lynn was always very proud of his prairie roots and never forgot where he was from, in spite of living many years on Vancouver Island. As a young boy, Lynn helped out with chores on the family farm with his three older siblings and their hardworking parents. Always an avid lover of sports, Lynn enjoyed hitchhiking all over Southern Manitoba as a young teen to play competitive baseball. Eventually settling in Winnipeg and working as a car mechanic at Russell Motors, Lynn was introduced by his mother to a young nurse originally from Nova Scotia, Shirley Chisholm. Falling in love, they married and initially settled in Winnipeg where they raised three boys, Jim, Murray and Darren. Ultimately, in 1984, Lynn moved his family to the West Coast to Sidney on Vancouver Island where he began a new career in Marine Sales. After retirement, Lynn enjoyed spending time and travelling with his family. Lynn loved and was very proud of his family, his extended family and many friends. He always enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He cherished talking to them on the phone and always took a keen interest in each of their lives and pursuits.
Lynn is Predeceased by his parents Stanley and Alice, his brother Murray and his sister Vivian.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Shirley, his three sons, Jim (Sherri), Murray (Lisa) and Darren along with his grandchildren and great-children, as well as his sister Jean.
