She was born in Bon Accord, Alberta, but moved to Victoria in early childhood. Her father died when she was seven. Going forward, by hard work, together with her siblings and mother, the family dairy farm called Parkdale Dairy continued on.
During WW2, Phyllis worked at Boeing Aircraft in Victoria. In 1943, she married Leading Seaman Ed Clark and they raised their family of three children. When their youngest child, Lorraine, died in 1982 at age 29, they raised her children Jennifer and Angela.
She and Ed enjoyed many years of square and round dancing. A self-taught accomplished seamstress, Phyllis made her skirts, tops and some crinolines.
Phyllis is predeceased by her husband Ed, daughter Lorraine, and three of her siblings; Ivor, Joan and Gordon, and nieces Sharon and Ruth. She is survived by her children Dorothy and Don (Paula), her grandchildren Jennifer, Angela, Michelle, Anne Elise, Sara and Phillip, her sister Marjorie, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A small graveside service with immediate family in attendance was held for her on Friday August 6th with Reverend Rodney May officiating.
