Our dearest Mom/Nana entered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 with Bobbi and Mark by her side. Mom was predeceased by her devoted husband Bob, her dear granddaughter Naomi, and sweet great-granddaughter Molly.
She is survived and greatly missed by her daughter Bobbi (Mark) and son Jim (Judy). She also leaves her cherished grandchildren Jason, Heidi (Andre), Ben, and Rebekah (Dave) and great-grandchildren Jayden, Emma, Owen, Kate, Sara, Ryan, and Luke.
Mom was born in Glasgow, Scotland into a large family of three sisters and four brothers. She spent her teen years working during WWII as a sales clerk and then a bus conductress. It was while on the buses that she met Dad. They soon wed and shortly afterwards Mom sailed to Canada as a War Bride and they settled for awhile in Vancouver. With Dad in the Army our family enjoyed travelling to various places, including three years in Germany. We eventually settled in Victoria.
Mom and Dad soon made many English and Scottish friends which gave her an avenue to dance, sing, and entertain. Mom always loved to make people laugh and be happy – she loved people.
Later in life Mom became a Christian and threw herself into various groups and activities which included Women's Aglow, The 700 Club, Campers for Christ, and the Lord's Warehouse. She was also an Elder in the Church of the Way and later became very involved at North Douglas Church with the Senior's Group, some counselling, and helping others. Mom was also known for her large pots of home made soup which she would take to the sick and the elderly.
When Mom moved into Berwick Royal Oak she found a new audience to entertain and soon M&M was formed with her new friend May Jones. Together they put on skits, dressing up, and lots of singing until they were not able to do so anymore. Mom spent the last seven years of her life at Selkirk Place where the staff cared for her with compassion which we always appreciated. Many thanks also to Dr. T. Rosenberg and Dr. H.Domke for their caring of Mom throughout the years. We know that Mom is now in a with her Saviour and loved ones but we miss her as she was the very heart of our family.
There will be a private family graveside service and we will have a Celebration of Life for our Mom at a later date.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.firstmemorialsaanich.com for the BROWN family.
