Marguerite Hobbs, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025 at the age of 94. She was born on May 17, 1930, in Nanaimo, and lived most of her life in Victoria, British Columbia.
Marguerite is survived by her four children, Winona, Arthur (Rita), Michael (Toshimi), and Winette (Michael), 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 30 years, Richard Parfett and former husband Ted Hobbs who both passed away in 2021.
A student at both Washington State University and University of Victoria in the early 1950s resulted in degrees in Music and Mathematics. Marguerite pursued a fulfilling career as a music and math teacher in both elementary and high schools in the Greater Victoria region over many years. An avid supporter of the performance and visual arts, Marguerite served as a docent at the Victoria Art Gallery and was a regular attendee of the Victoria Symphony. She was passionate about nature, music, and art and instilled this in her children and the many students that she impacted over her lifetime.
It was a life well lived. Rest in Peace Marguerite (Mom) and thank you for the music!
