Mary was born in Toronto, Ontario and was quite the entrepreneur in many things. In the late 70’s she owned and operated a General Store in Severn Falls. In the 80s, she moved to Coldwater and ran a bed and breakfast. In the 90’s, she moved to Gravenhurst and owned the Muskoka Fireside Shop. She loved making crafts to put in her stores.
In 2002, she moved to Sidney, BC. She volunteered at the Welcome Center and worked in the gift shop at the airport. She truly loved meeting and talking to people. She made many friends along the way. She especially enjoyed her walking group and art group!
Her true passion was her art. She took classes for several years in watercolour and oil painting. She was good at it and has several pieces displayed around town. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2009 and was very involved with their society until she had a stroke a few years ago. She was incredibly strong and didn’t let it stop her from doing anything. She painted right up to the end!
She is predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and George Dine, her son David and grandson Jason. Mary is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Suzanne (Scott), sons Paul and Steve (Joseph), grandson Daniel (Ashley), great grandson Benjamin and brother Gord (Marlene).
We sincerely thank the staff in palliative care at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. They are an amazing team of caring individuals.
There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, you may donate in her memory to the Parkinson Society of BC. She will truly be missed by her family, her friends and her stepchildren Mike, David, Tracy, Amber, Alan and Teri. A special thank you to Tracy who called every day to see how she was doing!
May you rest in peace Mom!
