January 2, 1928 – February 1, 2017
Born in Chemainus, BC, “The Little Town that did.” Megan grew up in the Ladysmith area and graduated from Ladysmith High School. She shortly moved to Parksville, BC where she began what would turn out to be a 40-year career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. She started as a stenographer, working her way up through the company, reaching her final position as Area Manager for Vancouver Island/Powell River—the only woman of seven area managers in British Columbia.
Upon her retirement in 1989, she finally had the time to devote to learning golf and lawn/carpet bowling, participate in Zonta International, and attend many operas and musicals. However, her greatest love was bridge. She was a member of several bridge groups where she proudly stated, “I know how to play Bridge!” A world traveler, she visited many countries, including Great Britain, Egypt, Russia, Australia, China and India.
Megan is proudly remembered by her daughter, Cherie (Mike), granddaughter Laura, and Cousins Gwen and Bill Francis and their extended Family in the UK. She will also be greatly missed by her ‘other family’ at CIBC, as well as her friends at the Gordon Head Lawn Bowling Club, various bridge groups, and the Cedar Hill Golf course.
