Leslie.
After finishing school, Muriel worked for Mohawk Mills. She married Thomas (Tom) James Campbell
in 1950, and raised three daughters. She created nurturing, welcoming homes in southern Ontario,
Montreal, Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. Muriel helped Tom in his business in Thunder Bay and later daughter Leslie in her business in Victoria.
In their retirement years Tom and Jade first divided time between Bonita Springs, Florida and a cottage
at Berford Lake near Wiarton, Ontario, where they hosted wonderful family get-togethers. In 1994 they
moved to Victoria to be closer to their three daughters. In Victoria they were active in their Songhees
condo community as well as the Gorge Vale Golf Club, and frequently explored their new west coast
home.
Predeceased by husband Tom in 2007, Jade is survived by daughters Leslie Campbell (David
Broadland); Karen Campbell; and Brenda Campbell (Serge D'Allaire), her sisters: Jean Stacey in St.
John's NL, Mary (Don) Pokoradi in Dundas, Ontario; Sheila (Peter) Gresko in Cochrane, Alberta; Gail
(Warren) Ritchie in Kingsville, Ontario; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased
by brother Alec Leslie. Her sister-in-law Marlene Dick of Victoria has been a special friend, as well as
her niece Dawn (Bryan) O'Malley and son Remi.
Jade died peacefully at James Bay Care Centre where she had enjoyed living for the last four years. She
was very fond of the caregiving and nursing staff and her family appreciates all the care and
compassion they provided to Jade and her family. They also thank Jade's friend Julie Graham for her
supportive care.
Always kind, considerate, and fair-minded, Jade loved learning about other people, keeping up with the
news, reading books, and going on outings to the Dallas seafront, Beacon Hill Park and Downtown. A
good listener and modest to a fault, she saw the good in everyone and was consistently appreciative and
encouraging. She will be greatly missed.
Family will have a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a
memorial donation to Our Place Society, which serves Victoria's most vulnerable citizens, or the BC
Cancer Foundation.
