He was a loving and loved husband to Jan, caring father to Greg (Shelley) and Chantelle and a devoted grandfather to Elley DeBienne, Emrys and Cohen Burrell.
Pre-deceased by his parents, he is survived by his brother Ray (Joanne), in-laws Murray Hidlebaugh (Jeanette), Pat Kessler (Gene) and Barbara Yardy (Phil) along with his mother-in-law, Betty Hidlebaugh.
He was a familiar figure in the Regina Public School system, first as a teacher, then as a Physical Education Consultant. He earned his BEd and BA(PE) at the University of Saskatchewan in 1966 and 1967 and his MSc at the University of Oregon in 1971.
He had a wide range of interests. He canoed the waters of Northern Saskatchewan and took a memorable trip down the Nahanni. He hunted with his buddies in the fall. He was an avid fan of motorcycles and was still riding his bike this summer. He became very skilled in carpentry and had a dream workshop on our acreage in Fort Qu’Appelle. He was everyone’s go-to guy on all things car related.
We both loved Regina, loved our farmhouse, and loved our four years on the island.
We ask you to celebrate Norm’s life in your own way as there will be no public service. Flowers most gratefully declined.
