It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and friend, Peter Keith Bousfield at the age of 84 from Victoria, BC, on August 3, 2021.
Peter was born in London, England on November 24, 1936 and grew up in Hong Kong, Victoria, BC and England, eventually settling in Victoria, BC with his family.
Peter attended St. Michael’s, Malvern College, Vic College and UBC. As an old boy, he was proud to have taught at St. Michael’s University School for 26 years and is remembered fondly by his students to this day.
His early days of travel were quickly replaced by a lifetime of keeping his feet firmly on the ground, after a harrowing flight back from Hawaii. Peter happily made Victoria, BC his home and centered his life around teaching, family, friends, boating, fishing, golfing, and tennis. As an avid sports fan, he grew up playing and socializing over a range of sports – soccer, rugby, tennis, and golf. Peter met his wife to be, Wendy Patricia, at the Vic Lawn Tennis Club. He was also an accomplished bridge player, taking home many trophies and titles over the years. Peter has lovingly been described as a character and he certainly was one of a kind. He had a quick wit, enjoyed entertaining and socializing, and loved to listen to and tell a good story. Never one to want to be the centre of attention, he often was – just by being Peter.
Of all the roles he had in life, he saved his best three – husband, father, and grandfather for us. Peter will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his daughters Tara Veysey (Charles and daughter Kaley) of Toronto, ON, Kate Bousfield (Glenn) of Port Coquitlam, BC, and Leah Bousfield of Rimbey, AB, and his grandsons Gwydion and Quinn. Peter is predeceased by his father, John Keith and mother, Edith Gwendolyn, daughter Tracey Patricia and his wife, Wendy Patricia – his best friend and partner in life for 41 years. We take comfort in knowing that Dad is happily reunited them.
A private family gathering will take place in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please take a scenic drive, preferably near a golf course, in memory of Peter - roll your windows down, breathe in the fresh air and as the sun shines down on you please remember him. In lieu of gifts, cards or flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
