It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Lamb, aged 85 years. Richard was born on the 7th March 1934 in Ottawa Canada, the beloved son of the late John and Ellen Lamb. And loving brother to the late Barbara Kemper of New York and sister Jane Baker who lives in Penzance England.
At the age of 12 Richard joined the Ottawa Little Theatre and later the Canadian Repertory Theatre where he enjoyed great success winning the best actor award for the mute part in "The Mad Woman of Shiloh" His theatre life lasted until his late 20's.
Richard worked for the Civil Service and for the Met Life Insurance Company for several years.
In 1968 he moved to England with his Mum and Dad with the idea of opening a pub, but finally settled in Cornwall and ran Lyndhurst Guest House. In 1971 they were joined by his sister Jane and nieces Mandy and Megan. They ran the guest house for 8 years before Richard, Mum and Dad returned to Ottawa which they stayed for 4 years.
In 1980 they drove across Canada to British Columbia and settled in Victoria - the kinder climate was a major factor in this move.
After early retirement Richard cared for his Mum and Dad until their deaths, he then remained in the family home near to all his close friends.
Richard passed peacefully on the 1st December after being cared for by The Victoria Hospice Society.
He leaves behind his sister Jane and nieces Amanda Laity and Megan Cheel and great nephews and nieces Ashleigh and Aidan White, Kayleigh, Ayla and Jayden Cheel who all live in Cornwall England.
