I ran into Ron a lot when I was a reporter at CHEK. He was always unfailingly kind and helpful—especially when I was one of the 'new ones.' My deepest sympathy to his family.

Penny, Sarah and Allan. so so sorry to know of your loss.  I pray for you that the early years of a healthy mind and body are what come to you when remembering your husband and father. Thank you for sharing what you did in the write up, this way hopefully we can now bare some of your grief.

I worked with Ron on many occasions at CHEK and at the leg and he was always the "pro".  He helped many people over the years and was the glue in the legislature media.  He knew everyone.  Everyone knew him.

bHe had some memorable moments at the Legisature, and some memorable reporters to deal with. Rest easy, Ron.

I used to see Ron on Thursdays.  He was a lovely and friendly gentleman.  Even after his stroke, he was strong and brave.  So sorry to hear of his passing, he will be missed.  Much love to his family.

My heart goes out to you, Dear Penny, and the "kids".  Ron's warm, kind, happy nature brought joy to those of us who worked in the often stressful press gallery. I have stored up 20 years of happy memories of Ron, travelling on buses, planes, trains, helicopters.. you name it! We always had our gardens to talk about!   And I remember his pride in his family. He often spoke of you all with so much love. I also remember enjoying your lovely singing voice beside me at Government House parties. I wish we hadn't lost contact. I know you are strong. It WILL get easier.  Please phone me when you feel up to it.

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Thompson's death. He was very kind to me on the occasion of my first interview for my Cheese Co., and made things go so well. I always enjoyed listening to Mr. Thompson's insightful interviews, and his voice will be missed.

Sarah, Alan and Penny: Wayne and I want to pass along our sympathy for your loss. We were saddened to learn of Ron's passing. The obituary captured many of the things we remember about Ron when we were neighbors including his passion for journalism which we often talked about over the fence and gardening. Long before urban farming was trendy - I remember the happy clucking of the chickens in your backyard that Ron cared for. There were many times we had house guests who would get up and remark with some perplexity that they imagined that they heard chickens as they awoke. Not your imagination at all, we would tell them.

So sad to Hear the news today of Ron's passing. What a remarkable man he was touching so many people with his talents. The obituary is such a lovely tribute.hugs from the Clapp Family

Ron and I met in elementary school and went through high school together.  He was always the guy in the change room with the camera! RIP Ron.

A cousin for all seasons.  And for increasing the ranks of beautiful people he added to the family, I am also grateful.  Indeed rest in peace, Ron.

In the press gallery area of the B.C. legislature hangs many photos covering the history of the media in this building. Ron is prominent in a number of these photos. Black and white prints going back to the days of WAC Bennett and Ron with his old film camera on his shoulder.I replaced Ron at the legislature as the cameraman for BCTV/Global when he went on disability. RIP Ron, from everyone at the legislature.

Sad to hear the news today.  Ron came to my Communications class to talk about freelancing in the TV industry.  I later bumped into him from time to time at the Legislature and out and about. An interesting guy to know with so many stories to tell.  Rest in peace, Ron.

Ron's stories of his travels, his pictures, and the souvenirs he brought back from faraway places always filled me with wonder. He was also a great mentor to a certain ten-year-old aspiring cinematographer once upon a time. Sarah and Allan, I hope you know that he was always, always very proud of you.

Ron was a friend and colleague, a consummate pro on the job and a gentleman away from the office.    He faced challenges bravely and accomplished so much in his life.
