Stanny's family moved from England to Canada when she was one year old. Originally to Ladysmith and them at age three to Victoria. Stanny grew up in the Oak Bay area and attended Willow's, Oak Bay Junior & Senior High Schools.
Stanny was a cherished member of the Jackson family, sister to Moira, Norman, Derek and the late Douglas and Michelle/Mike.
Stanny married Bill Harding when she was 21 years old and they raised two children, Rebecca and Kelly. They celebrated 26 years together before amicably deciding to end the marriage. Several years later, she married her sweetheart Ron Jackson and they recently celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. Ron brought the gift of Candace, another beautiful daughter, into the family.
Stanny's love had no bounds and she shared it freely & lavishly upon her grandchildren, Judd, Julia, Kalvin, Chelsea, Rae Anne and Cassie who's memories of Gramma Stanny are of a loving, giving and joy sharing lady they all adored. Stanny was also fortunate to share her joyful and loving personality with her great grandchildren Micah, Anthony, Elijah, Dylan, Kolby, Kahli, Hadley, Brody, Lauren, Luxie and Amelia.
Stanny was known for sharing her love and zest for life with anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with her. Whether at one of her jobs or with random people she met on her excursions. She appreciated them all as friends she just had not met yet and would stop and talk with them. She particularly loved babies and small children and would always stop to admire and coo over them.
Throughout Stanny's life she was conscientious of good health, exercise and healthy eating. From cycling and walking utilized as large forms of her transportation methods to making homemade yogurt and going to the health food stores years before many folks did such things. In her 60's her health was such that she was able to donate a kidney to a lady that she hardly knew whom she met while volunteering at a Salvation Army food kitchen in North Vancouver.
She had many adventures in her life from partaking in a competitive muzzleloader shooting and tomahawk throwing, for which she won a gold medal in her 30's, to taking her kids to play at the Sandhills in comox to going to the beach with her sister Moira to sit and people watch in her later years. These were all adventures for Stanny and she loved her adventures. She would head out to do them with glee and laugh her way through her life. She will forever loved and deeply missed by all of us.
