It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan Irene Parker, age 71, on October 28th, 2024, surrounded by close family. Susan lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born on December 30th, 1952, in Ramsgate, Kent, England, Susan was the eldest child of John and Jean. She was the proud sister to Johnny, Jeannie, Jacquie and Lynn. In 1974, she married James Parker with whom she shared a loving partnership until his passing. Sue and Jim made their way to Canada in 1978, where Susan built a fulfilling life for herself and her family.
As a lifelong worker, Susan was passionate about her career, finding joy in the friendships she formed along the way. She was a business owner of Seaside Kitchen and Brambles Seafood & Grill and worked as the School Shop Manager at Queen Margaret’s School for several years. Later, she devoted 15 years of service to Walmart, where she built lasting relationships with both her colleagues and customers.
Susan’s greatest joy was always her family. She was a devoted mother. She was overjoyed by the birth of her granddaughter, Parker (Nanny’s Girl) whom she was lovingly known as "Nan." Her love and pride for Parker were immeasurable.
Susan lived in several places over the years, including Salt Spring Island, Chemainus and Duncan, with a short time spent in Victoria. Her home was always a place of warmth, and she loved hosting family and friends.
Susan is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Luke) and stepdaughter Mandi (Andrew). She also leaves behind her siblings, Johnny (Heather), Jeannie (Warren), Jacquie (Doug) and Lynn (Steve). She was also a dear friend to Eileen and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her husband, James, her parents, John and Jean, her nephew Michael, and her great-niece Ashlyn.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Church in Duncan BC on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024 at 1:00 pm with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please take your family out for a meal “on Sue” to celebrate her love of family and a good meal.
