Vernon was born in Surrey, England; raised in Toronto, Ontario; and settled in Victoria, British Columbia. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Maria.
Vernon was a very talented, yet modest, gentleman. His friends can attest to his dry sense of humour, his serious demeanour, but most of all to his kind and generous spirit.
Although Vernon's degree was in science, he loved reading and writing poetry, as well as reading history and science fiction. He enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and listening to both jazz and classical music.
Sadly, he lost his battle with dementia.
Rest in peace, my love.
