

Adan “Buddy” Lara, Sr., 48, of Victoria, left this world for a new home September 19, 2011. Adam was born September 7, 1963, in Victoria to the late Marcelo and Mary Castillo Lara. He was employed as a warehouse manager for Pepsi Beverages Company/Victoria Dr. Pepper. He was also a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Adam will be remembered as a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, friend and co-worker who fought a valiant fight against cancer.
Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Michelle Wade and husband, Terry, and Kandace Lara; son, Adan Lara, Jr. and wife, April; companion, JoAnn Martinez; former wife, Mary Lara, all of Victoria; sisters, Maria (Oscar) Lara Barrera of Victoria, Sarita Lara of Oklahoma, Violet Lara Perez of Victoria, Amy (Ray) Cantu of Victoria, and Yolando (Bobby) Trevino of San Antonio; brothers, Marcelo Lara, Jr. of Oklahoma, and Bernardo (Mary) Lara of Victoria; sisters-in-law, Brenda Horelka, and Katherine (Brandon) Chavez; brother-in-law, Billy Ray (Nicole) Horelka; mother-in-law, Rachel Horelka; six grandchildren, Kendra Beckwith, Brice Noland, Layden Lara, Lance Lara, Isaiah Wade and Ethan Wade, who lovingly called him “Buddy.”
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Campos Amador; brothers, Juan Castillo Lara, Roger Lara and Rene Lara.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, September 23, 2011, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Rev. Paul Nadamkuzhy officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Anthony Lara, Marcelo Perez, Ernest Matthew Perez, Brandon Trevino, Oscar Lara Barrera, Jr., Randy Amador, Joe Amaro and Bernardo Lara, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pepsi Beverages Company/Victoria Dr. Pepper employees from Victoria, San Antonio and Houston, the Operation Bald Eagle “Band of Brothers,” Brandon Chavez and Dillon Barnett.
