Alice Brimberry, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024, at her home in Victoria, Texas, surrounded by family. She was born on April 12, 1936, in Houston, Texas to the late Oliver Edward and Alice Burt Brown.
Alice grew up in Houston, Texas and she graduated from Milby High School in 1954. Alice met John F. Brimberry while attending Sam Houston State University and the two married in 1957.
They began their life together in Houston where Alice taught physical education and coached tennis at Spring Branch Junior High School. In 1964, Alice moved with John and their daughter to Victoria, where she taught at Patti Welder Middle School and Crain Middle School. In 1968, Alice left the field of teaching after the birth of her second daughter. She stayed active playing tennis, participating in a local supper club with dear friends, and supporting her husband’s and daughters’ interests and achievements.
Alice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She provided unwavering love and support to her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was an enthusiastic cheerleader at all of their academic and sporting events. In her spare time, Alice found joy in traveling, photography, scrapbooking, and spending time with family and friends. She was loved and cared for by everyone who knew her and will be truly missed.
Alice is survived by her loving daughters Lisa Brimberry of Victoria and Lea Brimberry (Maurice Allison) of Brenham; grandchildren Sarah Moehrig (Jeff), Emily Skipper, and John Gage Skipper; step-grandson, Maurice Allison Jr.; great-grandchildren John Wyatt Moehrig and Evelyn Moehrig; step-great-grandson, Kyrie Allison and long-time friends Danny and Sandra Hiller, and Sarah Dodson. She is also survived by many extended relatives and close friends. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Brimberry, her parents, her three sisters, and brother.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church, 516 N. Main St., Victoria, TX 77901. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Victoria at 2:00 p.m. For those who wish to celebrate Alice’s life, the family encourages memorials to be made in her memory to First English Lutheran Church, Dorothy O’Connor Pet Adoption Center, or the donor’s choice.
