He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Wanda Neal Cummings.
After graduating high school Gene was drafted and proudly served in the U.S. Army working in Intelligence. After completing his tour of duty Gene worked for DuPont for many years in the Maintenance department as an Acid Mechanic.
He was a member at Baptist Temple Church and cooked many pancake and hamburger suppers to support youth mission trips. Gene never turned down an opportunity to help someone in need as this was his way of showing Christ’s compassion to others. He was a man who loved his family without fail and even as his body started to fail, and his physical abilities were no longer available to offer, he used his keen mind to offer insights into ways to accomplish goals. He always sought out hobbies to keep himself busy. His hobbies included guns, making knives, building and flying remote control airplanes and reading. He continued to read into his last days.
