I am proud to count Art Spears as a friend of mine.  Where does one start in remembering all the unbelievably enjoyable time spent with him?  Someone once said he was the “King of the One Liners,” but he was much more than that.  I always cherished my first encounters of the day with him as you never knew what he would come up with.  I still chuckle inside when I remember many of the jokes he revealed to me with his dead-pan delivery at the most implausible times.  “Buckaneer” and “My Grandfather said, ‘If it has Wheels’” come to mind, but there were so many more.  I remember one night we were assembling manuals for a large group of Licensees that had arrived early and were due in the plant the next morning.  Art was called into service, and we finished the manuals.  When I arrived home my wife asked “What is wrong with you?” I related I had been working with Art, and he was in super-warp joke mode and that my stomach was sore from laughing.  Art took his audience to new levels during training.  Several Licensees  composed  books of ARTISMS with their training notes and fondly shared them for years.  Art was unique and never at a loss for words.  He had a memory like an elephant and could string together facts and jokes as fast as you could listen.  After we retired, I enjoyed “Safety Meetings” with him at restaurants in Victoria where Art pontificated persistently and I was fascinated by his wit and ability.  God bless you Art and Thanks for the Memories!  I pray for strength for your family during this time of loss.  Losing a man like Art leaves a deep chasm that is only filled with the many memories he left behind.
