Audrey Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John & Sherri Strickland (Victoria, TX); grandchildren, Britni and husband Jordan Johnston (Shertz, TX), Bridgit and Husband Patrick Wredberg (Austin, TX); and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Janie Lindsey (Kansas City, Missouri), Linda Sue Birdge (Midlothian, TX), and Lucretia (Krish) Curtis and husband Troy (Stephenville, TX), as well as her brother, Johnny Willis and wife Marilyn (Wichita Falls, TX)—also, lots of nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Jean.
Audrey Jean was the oldest of 6 children. She helped her mom and dad a lot. Living on a farm, everyone had to pitch in, as you can imagine. A couple of quotes from her siblings we thought you may enjoy reading... "She has finished her race and is with her Lord and Savior now." "She was a good big sister to me; I will forever be grateful for that privilege." "She was a wonderful Christian lady and a very good sister to me." I have wonderful memories of her. When Krish and I were very young, Jean would always read our Sunday school lesson to us, and then we would talk about it. She made the lessons exciting."
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Demitri; father and mother, Johnny Condo and Mae Frances Willis; 2 sisters, Theta Brotherton and Cleta Cordray; her husband, Cleo Merchant; her first husband, Bill Strickland; and nephew, Stephen Turner.
A celebration of life service will be held at a private residence in Midlothian, Texas, on December 6th, 2025, at 2 pm. Her nephew, Ron Barnard, will officiate the service for the family and other loved ones who will attend.
If you would like to send letters, cards, or flowers to the family, please send them c/o Sue Birdge to 3601 Leigh Erin St., Midlothian, TX 76065
