Bernice "Blackie" H. Graham

Bernice “Blackie” H. Graham, 93, of Bloomington passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was born January 3, 1919, in Athens, Texas, to the late John Miller Graham and Julia Etta (McFarland) Graham. Blackie worked in the oilfield as a switcher for 36 years for Amerada Hess. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends and worked with Bloomington Little League for many years. He was a World War II veteran with the United States Army, working as a cook. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church.

Blackie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Gwendolyn (Cox) Graham, two sons, Joe Graham of Victoria and Cliff Graham of Bellaire, Texas; two grandchildren, Brad Graham and Shanna Graham Hofmann, and one great-grandchild, Jordyn Hofmann; also two step-grandchildren, Marcus Weiser and Mandie Hewitt and six step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ida Morgan and husband, Ernest of Athens, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Bloomington Methodist Church, Rev. Paul Beard officiating. Interment will follow at Crescent Valley Cemetery with graveside services provided by the Masonic Lodge and full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.

Pallbearers include Brad Graham, Tommy Maroney, Mike Maroney, Jeff Stowe, John Morgan and Jesse Morgan. Honorary pallbearers include Richard Bielec, Otis Shiller, Tommy Gideon, Domingo Robles, Jerry Peck and Daniel Garcia.
