Bertha L. Delgado, 92, of Victoria, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 2, 2024, surrounded by her daughters. Bertha was born in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas. She was a member of Santisima Trinidad Church and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Bertha resided in Victoria with her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her 11 children. It was important to her that she nurtured her children and maintained her home for her family. She attended, volunteered, and participated in all of their school functions. She loved making her home special for the holidays with Easter being her favorite of all. Christmas was also very special to her, and she loved attending Posadas at her friends’ homes. On Thanksgiving, her cornbread dressing was a family favorite. Bertha was a great cook, and she fed all her family, friends, and anyone who entered her home was welcomed to her food and hospitality. The neighborhood children loved to drop by for her tasty tortillas. After her husband passed and her children moved, her morning routine included meeting up with her neighborhood friends, having coffee, and sweet bread, and having lively discussions. In the evenings she enjoyed playing bingo, and cards with family, and friends and loved working on her crossword puzzles. She enjoyed watching her favorite shows, The Price is Right, The Young and the Restless, and other soap operas. Bertha was an active member of her church and routinely attended bible study classes. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She stayed young because she regularly played games and had quality time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who loved and adored her. After the death of her husband, and the decline of her health, she resided in Houston with her daughter Eva, and she would travel back and forth to Victoria. Her daughters cared for her and took her on vacations, to the Ballet, to the Nutcracker Market, to craft shows, and to the Astros games. She loved to dine out, go shopping, and enjoy Pina Coladas, Bahama Mamas, and Peach Bellini’s with her daughters. She will be extremely missed by her family as they had such great love for her.
Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus, daughter, Elizabeth, sons Robert, Mike, and Enrique, her parents and her brothers.
Bertha is survived by her daughters, Bertha, Eva (Albert), Elvira, Elsa, and Emma (Jose), her sons, Frank (Carmen), Charles, and Jesse (Linda), her son-in-law, Exsiquio, and her daughter-in-law Robin. She had 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
