

Bessie L. Jones Gleinser, 104, of Victoria passed away June 15, 2011. She was born February 2, 1907, in Ponta to the late John H. and Lela Dora Murphy Jones. Bessie retired from Easley Drug Store after many years in sales. She also worked at Cuero Cotton Mill where she was a cloth examiner. Bessie served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was the oldest living WWII female veteran.
She is survived by her niece, Linda Hewitt of San Antonio; nephew, James Wallace of Reklaw; half-sister, Marceline Simmons of Houston; half-brother, Bill Jones of Channelview; several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband E. J. Gleinser, two sisters, one brother and two half brothers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p. m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with Rev. John Heath and Rev. Christian Kiwia officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Beyer, Alex Dec, Hank Krebs, Donald Calvez, Jim King and Art Einkauf.
