Betty Kathleen Smith McFarlin Fudge went to heaven on June 12, 2026, at 85 years old. She is survived by her five daughters, Dianna Gordon (Randy) and Lenora Young of Austin, Vicki Trial (Jeff) and Sheri Janssen (David) of Victoria, and Tricia McFarlin of Houston. She is also survived by grandchildren: R.D., Cherie, Sabrina, Cassie, Buck, Alicia, Heather, Jared, Jacob, and Jonas. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Avery, Dawson, Riley, Emma, Holly, Makenzie and Mikaela, Hunter, Alexandra, Avery, Charlie, Jax, Kayden, Kolt, Harlow, Lylah, Allison and August. She was predeceased by her father, Lott Smith; her mother, Rosa Lee Smith; her brother, Lott, Jr.; her first husband, George McFarlin; her second husband, Bobby Fudge; and her son, John McFarlin.
In her long and purposeful life, she married the love of her life, George McFarlin, traveled with him to Germany where he did his military service in the Army, raised six children, served as a missionary for the Church of Christ in Australia, living there for four years, had a successful career as a real estate agent in Portland, Texas, and ran a communications tower company, Husky Tower Company, with her husband, George, and then after his death continued running the business on her own, streamlining it and building upon its early successes, retiring only when she was 77. Later in life, she married Bobby Fudge. They had a good life together, serving the church, enjoying Christian fellowship, and reveling in their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted mother, pleased with and proud of all her children, supporting them through thick and thin, championing their efforts, reminding them of their ever cherished place in her heart, and delighting in the simple pleasure of sitting together and talking. She was also a loving grandmother. She loved babies and children. She had a talent for relating to them from their own point of view, telling them stories and exclaiming over their beauty and loveability. She will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her so much.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 10-11 AM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, with funeral services beginning at 11 AM. Burial will be held at the McFarlin Family Cemetery.
