Brenda Joyce (Ware) Besio, 71, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on October 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband and two children, following a year-long battle with glioblastoma.
Born on September 23, 1955, in Philippi, West Virginia, Brenda was the daughter of the late Russell and Rachel (Williston) Ware.
On January 8, 1977, Brenda married the love of her life, David Allen Besio. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage, building a life filled with family, friendship, and laughter.
Brenda dedicated 27 years to working with children as a special education teaching assistant in Port Lavaca and Victoria. She had a special place in her heart for children and found great joy in helping them learn and grow.
Known for her kindness and generous heart, Brenda went out of her way to make others smile. Whether it was tracking down an item someone was searching for or simply finding a way to brighten their day, she took genuine pleasure in helping others. She also had a mischievous sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes and startling unsuspecting family and friends, a pastime she continued even in her final days. Some of her favorite evenings were spent gathered around the fire pit with her husband and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and a good glass of wine.
Of all the roles she held throughout her life, none brought her more joy than being "Gigi" to her four grandchildren. She delighted in spoiling them, taking them out to lunch, reading with them, and making memories together.
Brenda is survived by her husband, David Allen Besio, of Victoria; her daughter, Kerri Wenzel, and son-in-law, Dustin, of Spring, Texas; her son, Adam Besio, of Victoria, Texas; and her four beloved grandchildren, Salem, Elizabeth, Quinn, and Cooper.
She is also survived by her sisters, Geraldine Wilson and her husband, Joe, of Bedford, Indiana and Terri Flynn of Massena, New York; along with extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Ware, and sisters Judy Murray, Audrey Jean Stokes, and Margaret D. "Bunnie" Cecot.
A Celebration of Life for Brenda will be held at 2 PM Wednesday November 4, 2026 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Les Cole officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation or your local cancer foundation.
