Carol Leatherwood Anderson went to celebrate her freedom with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. She was born September 9, 1944 in Victoria to Betty Jean Lowry Leatherwood and the late Arthur Neil Leatherwood. She graduated Cum Laude from Victoria High School in 1962 where she participated in the band as first chair clarinet, twirler and drum major. She was also a track star. After high school she attended Victoria College and the University of Houston Victoria. Carol worked with a few great companies before settling in at Leo’s Feedlot. She worked too many caterings to count by the time she decided to sell. After a few years of retirement, she went to work at Memorial High School Stroman Campus. She then moved to the Victoria West Campus where she stayed until her retirement in 2014. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Carol enjoyed her life, her family, and her many friends. She was a joy to be around and will be remembered for her smile and signature laugh. This was always present around the card table playing cards and dominos. She was very competitive and compassionate in her hobbies which included horses, fishing, hunting, card games and bunco. She enjoyed traveling and was also an avid reader.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Esterak Pilsner and Dana Witte Whitaker (Myke); mother, Betty Leatherwood; sister, Darla Thomas (Randy); grandchildren Blaine and Keaton Crabb; and niece and nephews. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Anderson and James Witte; and brother, David Leatherwood.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Friday, July 6, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 pm Saturday, July 7, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
