Carol L. Yaws, 79, of Victoria, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Victoria. She was born in Edinburg, Texas to the late Verval Oveal and Geraldine Newton Estes on December 2, 1942. Carol met and married the love of her life, Joel Wayne Yaws, Sr. in 1974. As the two of them blended their families, Carol made being a mother to eight children and managing a household the pride and joy of her whole world. Carol’s calling during her time on earth was to love and nurture not only her immediate children, but to love and nurture anyone who stood in need of a mother figure. No matter the circumstance, Carol’s heart, arms, and home was open to anyone who found themselves in need of someone to care. Carol’s role of wife, mother and Granny was a role she carried out beautifully and perfectly. Carol enjoyed camping, scrapbooking, and road trips to look at the wild flowers with her husband. However, nothing brought Carol more joy than spending time with her family and loving on her grand babies. Carol’s presence on this earth will be missed but the legacy of Carol’s nurturing, strength, and fierce determination will live on in her children and grandchildren forever.
In addition to her parents, Verval Oveal and Geraldine Newton Estes, Carol is preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Starlene Mann; brothers, Bill Estes, Tony Estes, Robert Estes, Jim Estes and a sister, Jewel Collier.
