Charles was born on October 23, 1938, in Victoria, Texas, to Werner Range and Lillie Marie Hausmann. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Charles lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love for his family. He went to be with the Lord after a life well lived, grounded in his strong Lutheran faith and deeply cherished by those who knew him.
The love of Charles’ life was his wife and soulmate, Ginny Range, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage before her passing in 2021. Their enduring partnership was the foundation of a close-knit and loving family.
Charles worked for DuPont for 38 years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and integrity, while also farming alongside his parents Jim and Lillie Hondlik — an experience that shaped his strong work ethic and appreciation for the land. He proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard.
Charles is survived by his three children: Lisa Bradley (Thomas) of San Antonio, Texas; Lauri Range of Victoria, Texas; and Charles “Chad” W. Range, Jr. (Sharon) of Katy, Texas. He also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: Taylor (Anne), Haile (RJ), Darby (Sean), Callie, Carlie (Austin), Dylan, and Ryan, as well as four treasured great-grandchildren: Olivia, Margot, Sutton, and Amelia.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date, with details to be announced.
In honor of Charles’ life, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas or the American Cancer Society.
Charles will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
